Mirrors of Kalandra can drop anywhere after level 35, with a drop rate of 1 in 500,000 in the first Path of Exile. If you're lucky enough to find a Mirror of Kalandra in Path of Exile 2, it's up to you whether you want to use it yourself or sell it.

What is a Mirror of Kalandra?

Mirrors of Kalandra are an extremely rare currency in Path of Exile and Path of Exile 2. If you're lucky enough to find a mirror at the end of a map, you can use it to perfectly copy a piece of gear, including its modifiers. Mirrors of Kalandra can copy the best items found in the game (either to sell or for personal use), making the currency itself the most valuable in the game as well.

Copied pieces of gear will have a reverse image (hence the mirror). Mirrored pieces of gear cannot be further modified or mirrored again. Mirrors also cannot be used on unique or corrupted items.

Players that find a Mirror will often offer "mirror services" instead of use the item themselves. These services are so expensive that players often provide collateral before receiving their Mirrored item from a player.

Since they are the most valuable currency in the game, it's up to you whether you want to use a Mirror of Kalandra or sell it. Currently, a Mirror of Kalandra is worth a whopping 375 Diving Orbs in the currency exchange and may be worth more on 3rd party PoE 2 trading sites.

How to Get Mirrors of Kalandra

After reaching level 35, players have a random chance to get a Mirror of Kalandra from killing any monster or completing any map. In Path of Exile, the odds of getting a mirror from any mob was about 1 in 500,000.

Also in the first Path of Exile, players could collect Mirror Shards from killing random mobs to craft a Mirror of Kalandra. Thankfully, it looks like in Path of Exile 2, players don't have to worry about collecting shards and only complete Mirrors of Kalandra drop.

Players can increase their chances of finding a Mirror of Kalandra by wearing equipment with a modifier to increase item rarity. The effects of this modifier are hotly debated, and some players are arguing that it doesn't mean anything.

However, the in-game tooltip for rarity specifically mentions that currency items have a hidden rarity trait, meaning that modifiers for increasing rarity of items found should help. As the game gets played more and eventually comes out of Early Access, players will have an easier time testing modifiers to see if they really help drop rates.

Players can also use a Cartographer's Chisel to improve the quality of an entire map, which will increase the quality of items dropped from all mobs and from the end rewards.

Although Mirrors of Kalandra can technically drop from anything after level 35, running the highest difficulty maps possible and using item rarity modifiers can increase your chances of seeing one.

Mirror of Kalandra Exploit

Only a day ago, players uncovered an exploit to duplicate any items and any currency in Path of Exile 2, including Mirrors of Kalandra.

Since the early access game crashes so frequently, Grinding Gear Games added a rollback mechanic to revert your save after the game crashes. Players have found that they can drop or trade the currency to a friend, force a rollback, and the currency will be in their inventory again. Using this method, Path of Exile 2 players are able to duplicate literally any item in the game for free.

Since the exploit was discovered, the value of Mirrors of Kalandra has plummeted on the trade market, down from 375 Divine Orbs to 234. This is both due to players duplicating items without a Mirror, and due to extra duplicated Mirrors being on the market.

It's unclear how long players will be able to use this duplication bug in Path of Exile 2.
